The Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) is an intervention strategy aimed at addressing the issue of escalating unemployment, particularly among young persons between the ages of 15 and 35.  YTEPP Limited offers over 80 vocational courses in 12 occupational areas, and training is conducted in six-month cycles.  The Programme is open to eligible persons who are interested in entrepreneurship or acquiring Level I and II (craft and pre-craft) technical vocational training.  Please visit the YTEPP website by following the link in the Quick Links section for more information on courses offered.

Can I apply?

Both Trinidad and Tobago citizens can apply to YTEPP Limited. If you are:

  • A citizen, you need proof of identification in the form of a valid Trinidad and Tobago Birth Certificate, Driver's Permit, National Identification Card, or Passport.

How do I apply?

YTEPP Limited will publish media advertisements providing information on application deadlines for each of the bi-annual training cycles.  YTEPP Limited also issues public announcements via caravans and public address systems.
 
Prior to the announced application deadline, you must go to one of YTEPP Limited's 25 centres with the items listed below in order to apply.  At the centre, you will be given a registration form to complete.

  • Proof of your identification, as detailed in the section above.
  • Two passport sized photos, taken not more than one month prior to application.
  • TT$100.00 in cash, to pay your non-refundable registration fee.
  • Your banking information, to allow for payment of your stipend:
    • Name and address of your bank.
    • Your bank account number.
    • Your Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) and NIS numbers.

What happens after I apply?

Your application will be reviewed to determine if you meet the YTEPP Limited entry requirements.  If you are accepted into the Programme, a member of YTEPP Limited's staff will contact you for an orientation/interview.  You will then be placed in training for a period of six months at one of YTEPP Limited's training centres.  You will also be paid a stipend of TT$24.00 a day, paid monthly.

What happens after training has been completed?

At the end of your six-month training period, your certificate of completion will be sent to the Ministry of Education for processing through the National Examinations Council.  This usually takes two to three months.  YTEPP Limited has an Employment Bureau to link graduates with employers seeking skilled labour, making the employment process more accessible to trainees.  The Bureau seeks employment in all YTEPP Limited vocational areas.

Are there any associated fees?

There is a non-refundable registration fee of TT$100.00 that must be paid in cash at the time of application.  You can make payment at any of the 25 YTEPP Limited throughout Trinidad and Tobago.  Please contact any of YTEPP's four full-time centres, using the information at the bottom of this page, for details regarding other locations.
