The Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Examination is used to facilitate the placement of students in Secondary Schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago. The SEA is comprised of three papers in the subjects of Creative Writing, Mathematics, and Language Arts, and covers the national curriculum for primary-level education with a focus on Standards Three to Five.
Who is eligible to write the SEA?
Students who are in Standard Five and have not yet attained the age of 15 are eligible to write the SEA.
The Ministry of Education publishes an annual "SEA Guidelines" document to assist parents, teachers and others involved in the preparation of students for the SEA and secondary school. These guidelines can be accessed using the link below.
How do I register my child to write the SEA?
Students must complete the SEA Registration Form, which is made available at all primary schools at the beginning of the first term of the school year in September. All necessary information, such as the registration deadline, is included on the form. If you want to register a student after the deadline, please contact the Ministry of Education's Examination Section.
