Uniform Grant

The Uniform Grant assists with the purchase of school uniforms for the children of needy persons, persons already in receipt of assistance from the Ministry of the People and Social Development and victims of natural disasters. The maximum amount disbursed is TT$200.00 per child (up to four children per household).
Am I eligible?
To be considered for this grant you must be a needy person, a client of the Ministry of the People and Social Development (i.e. currently receiving some form of assistance from the Ministry) or a victim of a natural disaster who needs to replace the school uniforms that have been lost or destroyed.
How do I apply?
If you are already a client of the Ministry of the People and Social Development, you must meet with your officer to make a request for assistance. Other needy persons and victims of natural disasters who wish to apply for this grant should visit the nearest Social Welfare Division Office or an office of the National Family Services Division. Follow the links provided at the end of this section for office locations.
You will be interviewed by a representative of the Ministry who will submit a recommendation for approval if you meet the requirements. A letter of approval or rejection will be sent to you once a decision has been made.
What documents do I need?
- National identification card.
- Invoice or quotation for new school uniforms from the supplier.
- Job letter or pay slip (if you are employed).
- Letter from the Fire Services Division for victims of fire or from your Municipal Corporation (for other disasters, such as floods).
All invoices and relevant documentation must be provided within six weeks of submitting an application.
