Secondary level education is compulsory and provided free of cost in Trinidad and Tobago, in accordance with the Education Act.  You can view the entire Act by following the link under Quick Links.  There are over 141 schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago that have been approved by the Ministry of Education to provide secondary-level education.

What is the secondary school curriculum?

All secondary schools follow the national curriculum.  The national curriculum includes the basic subjects of Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Geography and in some cases Religious Instruction.  Each school may choose to offer additional subjects, as well as extra-curricular activities.

Who can enrol in secondary school?

Any child from age 12 to age 18 can be enrolled in secondary school. Enrolment is compulsory for children 16 years of age and younger.

How do I enrol my child in a secondary school?

Each secondary school has its own enrolment process.  Review the list of approved secondary schools using the link below, then contact the schools in which you are interested to find out about their enrollment process.

If your child is not a Trinidad and Tobago citizen, you will be required to complete an Application for Enrolment in a School in Trinidad and Tobago form as part of the enrolment process.  The application form can be downloaded using the link below or picked up from the school.
