Adolescent Mothers Programme

Adolescent Mothers Centres are located throughout Trinidad and Tobago and offer a wide range of support programmes that are designed to assist pregnant teenagers, teenage mothers, their children and partners and reduce the number of teenage pregnancies. The Centres also conduct outreach and education programmes in local primary and secondary schools. The Adolescent Mother's Programme is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of the People and Social Development and The Child Welfare League of Trinidad and Tobago.
What services do the Centres offer?
If you are a teenage mother or you are pregnant, you can access a wide variety of training courses and services that can help you learn valuable skills, get a job and be a better mother. Adolescent Mothers Centres offer services such as:
- Day care services.
- Individual and group counselling.
- Skills training, literacy training, and academic courses.
- Health and nutrition information, parenting courses, and personal development training.
Who should apply?
Pregnant teenagers or adolescents, teenaged mothers and particularly first-time mothers between the ages of 13 and 19 can access these services.
How do I apply?
The Adolescent Mothers Programme offers a walk-in or referral service. You can simply call or visit the Adolescent Mothers Centre nearest you. At present, there are five Adolescent Mothers Centres throughout Trinidad and Tobago. The Centres are open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on the island of Trinidad, and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on the island of Tobago, Monday to Friday except public holidays.
